ONUG Communications, Inc. Hires Brent Wilkins for Business Development

Raleigh, NC – May 23, 2024 – We are excited to announce the hire of Brent Wilkins for Business Development. Wilkins joins our team with over 30 years of experience in management and sales. He is North Carolina born and raised with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from East Carolina University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Wilkins joined our team in April to assist in generating more sales and continuing to add more businesses to our clientele.

            Brent is an experienced leader who has worked for many companies throughout his career; both large and small. His most recent Telecom role was at Consolidated Communications, a nationwide internet service provider & telecommunications company with a presence in 22 states. As Director of Business Development, he was responsible for buying and selling fiber infrastructure and wireless towers.

            Wilkins has many short-term and long-term goals for ONUG Communications. His current focus is to complement Don’s efforts by adding several new clients and learning more about ONUG’s current clientele. His daily morning approach is creating a target list of who to contact to ensure his attention is evenly distributed to best fit our business model of treating each customer like they are our only customer. As we continue to grow as a company, it is important to have employees like Brent who actively nurture current client relationships while developing new ones.

            His career is not one short of overcoming adversity. He worked at Cantor Fitzgerald during the tragic events of 9/11. While juggling the personal effects of grief and fear, Wilkins was suddenly tasked as a key contributor in assisting Cantor Fitzgerald rebuild its telecommunications infrastructure. With very little time and resources, he pitched in with a group of people and worked hard to rebuild the company. During his nine years there he expanded the customer base, created new businesses from scratch, co-invented several issued and pending wireless patents for secure financial trading and gaming, and so much more. When asked why he chose to stay at Cantor Fitzgerald for as long as he did, his immediate response was “dedication”.

            His proven work ethic, positive go-getter attitude, and intentionality in his relationships make him a great fit to work in business development here. Wilkin’s track record of leading business development and driving short-term and long-term growth will be greatly utilized in his new role at ONUG Communications.
